AS and A2 LEVEL Geography

GeographyGeography at A level links the Arts and Sciences. It is the integrated study of the earth’s places, peoples, environment and societies. The 16 – 19 Project has a distinctive approach to the subject and the method of learning is enquiry based, with students undertaking a great deal of independent study. A considerable variety of resources are used including photographs, case study booklets, videos, maps, internet case studies and fieldwork.

The course focuses on the inter-relationship between people and the environment and takes as its starting point enquiry into questions, issues and problems of relevance in the world today such as natural hazards, urban issues, ecosystems and climate change. The course covers topical issues such as patterns of poverty, natural resource depletion, global warming, globalisation, population growth, volcanoes and earthquakes.

Assessment takes the form of four examinations. Fieldwork is an integral part of the course and questions will have fieldwork technique sections.
