Students_At_PCsThe Single Award is two units.

The Single Award has one exam paper worth 40% of the total marks, and one controlled assessment (CAB) worth 60%.

Unit 1: Living in a Digital World

In this unit, students explore how digital technology affects the lives of individuals, organisations and society. They will learn about current and emerging digital technologies and the issues raised by their use in a range of contexts. Students will develop awareness of the inherent risks of using ICT and the features of safe, secure and responsible practice. – Written paper, externally assessed. Students will have a 90 minute examination at the end of year 11, with a 40% weighting.

Unit 2: Using Digital Tools

This is a practical unit that will broaden and enhance learners’ ICT skills and capabilities. They will work with a range of digital tools and techniques to produce effective ICT solutions in a range of contexts. Students will learn to reflect critically on their own and others’ use of ICT and to adopt safe, secure and responsible practice. CAB, marked by teachers; moderated by Edexcel. Students will have 40 hours to complete the CAB, with a 60% weighting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
