WHAT COURSE DO I FOLLOW? EDEXCEL French
WHAT WILL I STUDY?

FranceStudents will be given opportunities to take part in activities that, where appropriate, combine two or more of the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. When a spoken or written response is expected, it should be in French, except where a response in English is necessary, e.g. when interpreting.
Students will:

  • learn how to communicate in French
  • acquire language skills
  • develop language-learning skills and knowledge and understanding of the language
  • increase their cultural awareness

Topic Areas

  • media and culture
  • sport and leisure
  • travel and tourism
  • business, work and employment

Students studying the course will cover all areas

DETAILS OF FORMAL EXAMINATION

Assessment will be in the form of controlled assessments and terminal examinations at either foundation or higher level.

There will be external examination papers in listening and reading (40%). Speaking and writing will be assessed through controlled internal assessments (60%).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Students may have the opportunity to e-mail pen friends using their personal e-mail account.

A French assistant will work with small groups of students.
