WHAT COURSE DO I FOLLOW? Edexcel Graphic Products
WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Awards_2012_03_600The course teaches students the knowledge, skills and techniques used to produce graphic products. These include formal drawing, presentation, computer graphics and 3-D modelling. Opportunities will be provided for students to develop an awareness of the nature and significance of graphic design in society, and by using CAD/CAM systems design and make a range of graphic products.

Students will be expected to design and make 2-D and 3-D graphic products in card and light construction materials. Great emphasis is placed on the use of computer graphics to achieve high quality outcomes. Professional software packages utilised include Paint Shop Pro, Pro/ENGINEER, Publisher 2010, and 2D Techsoft.

DETAILS OF FORMAL EXAMINATION

At the end of the course there is a 1.5 hour examination, carrying 40% of the total mark.

COURSEWORK DETAILS

The project, which forms a major part of the course, carries 60% of the final mark. They have a choice of topic areas from which they can select.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Students will find it most beneficial to equip themselves with drawing equipment for use at home. Good presentation skills would be an advantage.
