Staff Printing

When printing to a printer at Leek High, if there is more than 5 jobs already queued up you never get the prompts to charge the job to a department.

When I click on the “Connect to…” links above nothing happens!

Firewalls and Remote Access

If you have problems connecting to our server you may be having problems with a firewall blocking your access. The firewall could be on your computer, or at your ISP.

The firewall needs to allow connections by TCP on port 3389 to IP address 81.137.245.201 (cache.leekhigh.staffs.sch.uk).

Manual Connection Guide For Windows Vista

Some users have had problems using the links to connect to us, you can make the connection manually by following these steps on a Windows Vista computer:

  1. Hold down the “Windows key” on your keyboard and press “r”
  2. In the “Run” box that pops up type “mstsc” (without the quotes) and choose “OK”
  3. Type “81.137.245.201” (without the quotes) into the “Computer” box, then choose the “Options” button, leave the username set to none.
  4. Under “Local Resources” (near the top of the box) pick if you want sound, (bring to this computer means you want it, leave at remote computer means you don’t)
  5. Near the bottom of the “Local Resources” tab there is a section called “Local devices and resources” tick “Printers”, “Clipboard”, then choose the “More” button and tick all the “Drives” and “Supported plug and play devices”. Choose “OK” to close this window.
  6. Under the “Advanced” tab choose “Always connect, even if authentication fails”, towards the bottom of this tab there is a section called “Connect from anywhere”, choose the “Settings” button then pick “do not use a TS gateway server”. Choose “OK” to close this window.
  7. Choose “Connect”, we now meet an irritating feature of Vista, it asks you for a username and password, no matter what you enter here it will fail, so just enter “abc” and just choose “OK”. You enter you username and password when you see the Leek High login box instead.
  8. Now you will get a security warning about the access to disk drives etc, choose “Yes”.
  9. Now you will finally get to the Leek High login prompt, ensure “Workstation Only” is NOT ticked and log in as normal.
