WHAT COURSE DO I FOLLOW? Religious Studies OCR (Short course)
WHAT WILL I STUDY? REDuring this two year course students are investigating Christian beliefs and practices. They have also studied ways of making moral decisions. Students are made aware that religion is a living experience and they have explored this through the practices, values and attitudes of believers today. Students have been encouraged to reflect on religious responses to moral issues.Topics will include:

  • rites of passage,
  • festivals,
  • prejudice and discrimination;
  • family relationships
  • abortion, Euthanasia and medical ethics
  • marriage

During the course students have increased their knowledge of these areas. They have been encouraged to work as team members and to discuss issues confidently in class.

Assessment of classwork and homework has been continuous and has been made against standards given to students in advance.

DETAILS OF FORMAL EXAMINATION Two papers will be:

  1. Christianity
  2. Christian perspectives on personal, social and world issues.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION From time to time the department has guest speakers who focus on a particular aspect of the course.
