WHAT COURSE DO I FOLLOW? EDEXCEL GCSE Music
WHAT WILL I STUDY?

03_600The course allows for all musical interests, so whether you like pop, rock, classical or world music, there is something for you, but you will have to study music from all traditions.

All students are expected to participate in instrumental or vocal tuition either within school or, if preferred, with a private teacher. You will submit two recordings of your best performances for coursework. You will also have to perform one of your own compositions as part of your coursework.

You will learn to compose music in various styles, on individual projects that will be recorded. The best two of these projects will be selected for submission as course work.

The listening work develops analytical and aural skills through a study of classical, popular and world music. Your knowledge of these areas is tested in a listening exam at the end of the course and through your composing work.
