WHAT COURSE DO I FOLLOW? EDEXCEL Mathematics
WHAT WILL I STUDY? StudentStudents will be placed in sets in Year 10 according to progress made during Year 9.

Currently, all sets except 10X1 will continue the work begun in Year 9 working towards one of two tiers of entry – Foundation tier, giving access to grades C to G, and Higher tier, giving access to grades A* to D (with an allowed grade E). These students will go on to sit their final GCSE examinations in Year 11. From September 2015 the system will remain similar but students will be working towards GCSE grades 1-9.

The most able students will be placed in Set 10X1 and will follow the Higher tier GCSE course aiming to complete this course at the end of Year 10. These students may then go on study a Further Mathematics course in Year 11.

The rate of progress of each student is monitored and all students are tested at the end of each module/topic. There is provision throughout the GCSE course to change from one tier to another.
