The Curriculum

Our aim is to develop the potential of all our students and the curriculum is designed to meet their individual needs. We do our very best to ensure that they are on the right course to enable them to progress.

Pre 16

Year 9

Students2All students joining from a middle school will have completed the Key Stage 3 programme of study at the end of year 8 and will start new courses suited to their needs and abilities. Many students will begin courses which will lead to GCSE qualifications and will also be involved in enrichment activities related to these subjects. Provision is made within the core subjects for those who did not take their SATs at the end of year 8.

All students study English, Mathematics, Science, ICT and Design & Technology (D&T) during year 9 as well as Art, Modern Foreign Languages, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education (PE) and Religious Studies. All students also study Citizenship topics and follow a Personal, Social and Health Education course.

Years 10 and 11

StudentThe Key Stage 4 curriculum is designed to provide for the diverse needs of all students and to ensure success for all. In the core subjects all students will continue the course begun in year 9. All students chose a broad and balanced range of subjects alongside the compulsory subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Design & Technology (D&T), ICT, Physical Education (PE) and Religious Studies.

The choices available at GCSE include:

  • Art, Textiles
  • Food Technology
  • A choice of language from French, German and Spanish
  • Geography
  • Graphic Products (D&T)
  • History
  • Resistant Materials (D&T)
  • Music
  • Systems and Control (D&T)

We also offer  students the opportunity to learn in a work based environment:

  • Agriculture
  • Engineering (Levels 1 & 2)
  • Hairdressing
  • Construction
