What you will learn

The OCR Level 3 Nationals in ICT are intended to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of ICT functions, environments and operations in preparation for higher education and employment. The course specifically aims to:

  • develop your skills, knowledge and understanding in contexts that are directly relevant to employment situations, thereby enhancing your employability within the ICT sector;
  • help you to work autonomously and effectively in an ICT context;
  • demonstrate the skills needed to participate in the operation and development of real ICT organisations;
  • encourage your progression by assisting in the development of the skills, knowledge and understanding that you will need to access further or higher education programmes or occupational training.

Assessment – 100% coursework

Each unit is designed around the principle that you will build a portfolio of evidence showing your progression towards meeting the unit assessment objectives.

Performance at unit level is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction, recognising that you may perform better in meeting the requirements of some objectives more than others.

All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by an OCR Visiting Moderator. This means that there are no written exams and all assessment is through the completion of coursework. You will have an opportunity for continued improvement through the resubmission of work to achieve higher grades.
